Revelation 11 pt 9
When Christ Jesus took his last breath on the cross, the enemy began to celebrate, believing they had won a great victory. Many would argue that the end-time victory of the enemy will come through a seeming defeat. This is the way of the cross. This is the path of Jesus.

Revelation 11 pt 7
Remember how the message of John the Baptist tormented the conscience of Herod and resulted in his death. Sometimes the only way to try and drown out the whispers of a guilty conscience is to shoot the messengers. The message of repentance and life of the two witnesses will produce an angry strike-back from the enemy. More tomorrow:

Revelation 11 pt 6
From a simple point of view, the Holy Spirit will empower the believers in Christ so that they might illuminate the world in this end-time of notorious darkness.

Sunday Review 20
Welcome to this Sunday Review. I have been working through Revelation chapter 11 which must be the most difficult chapter to try to explain but yet which holds such profound truths regarding the very last days.
-
Revelation 11 pt 5
The two witnesses could, maybe, be the believers in Christ who are empowered by God to preach and prophesy with signs and wonders in the very last times. They are dressed in sackcloth denoting their message of deep repentance to a dying and sinful world.
-
Revelation 11 pt 4
The different expressions for the same period of time would also show that they are actual measurements of time that are not to be spiritualised into something of our own making. This period of time will actually happen. It will be the final three-and-a-half years before Christ Jesus returns in power and glory!

Revelation 11 pt 3
The building of the Third Temple and the beginning of the daily sacrifice will bring such joy to many of the people of Israel. The treachery of the end-time beast and his desecration of the temple will be the final straw that will weaken the pride of Israel and prepare them in brokenness to receive Christ Jesus as their Messiah when he returns in power and glory.
-
Revelation 11 pt 2
A Third Temple must be built and the sacrifices and grain offerings to commence, so that the end-time beast can arise, bring a halt to the daily sacrifice and desecrate the temple in order to fulfil prophecies of both Jesus and Daniel.
-
Revelation 11 pt 1
There has always been a great expectation that a Third Temple will be built although there are clear challenges to hurdle, not least the opposition of other world religions that hold political control over the Temple Mount. Political wrestling goes on regarding the future development of the Temple and the will and expectation grows more acutely with every passing year.

A Prayer For Afghanistan
May a spirit of praise and worship be lifted up amongst the hearts of Christians in Afghanistan, even though the praise may need to be covert and sung under their breath, may it be joyous and contagious.
-
Revelation 10 pt 7
Right up until the very last moment before Christ Jesus returns, we will be called to preach the gospel throughout the world and prophecy over people from every level and strata of society.
-
Revelation 10 pt 6
He sends us out to fulfill mighty tasks that are well beyond our capacity but yet His presence makes them possible.
-
Revelation 10 pt 5
In the days of the seventh trumpet, an intense series of events will unfold. Israel will be delivered by the second exodus, The elect will be raptured and the dead resurrected. The enemy will be defeated and Jerusalem liberated. And the Kingdom of our Lord will be established on the earth.
-
Revelation 10 pt 4
May our hearts be prepared for the extraordinary days that lie ahead. May we not be caught indulging in some idle dream or fantasy…
-
Revelation 10 pt 3
God is fulfilling His heavenly purposes on this earth. He surveys the whole of His majestic creation and declares that there will be no more delay. Everything has run according to His divine calendar. He is wrapping up the times and the ages and bringing them to their spectacular and wonderful eternal fulfillment.

Sunday Review
Whilst we continue to value and invest in on-line resources, there are good reasons for also investing in, supporting and valuing our local bible teachers. They might not be as charismatic or flamboyant as the super-stars on our computer screens, but one day they might be all we have.
-
Revelation 10 pt 2
There are those who have written books declaring that they have downloaded, from above, the meaning of the thunder messages. I will leave them to their studied foolishness.
-
Revelation 10 pt 1
Theologians duel with flintlocks at the break of dawn as regards the identity of this angel. Whoever, he is, he certainly represents universal power and dominion and this comes as a sweet reassurance after the traumatic and disturbing verses of chapters eight and nine.
-
Revelation 9
The effects of the sting of the scorpion will be a preview of the torment of hell that is to come.
-
Revelation 8 pt 5
But the first four trumpet judgements have only brought partial devastation. God in His mercy still offers the hope and promise of redemption to those who repent from their ways.
-
Revelation 8 pt 4
Yesterday we considered how God is kicking away the struts that support the world itself. These trumpet judgements may well be coming at a fast rate, a flurry of body blows. God wll still be holding out the grace of salvation but only for a while. Tomorrow the lights will be dimmed.
-
Revelation 8 pt 3
One has the feeling here that God is kicking away the struts that support the world itself. And it will get even worse.
-
Revelation 8 pt 2
Some will argue, perhaps with good reason, that the trumpet judgements are simply God allowing the natural greed of man to destroy his environment and suffer the consequences of his evil ways.
-
Revelation 8 pt 1
The silence of half-an-hour marks a moment of dreadful intensity before the outpouring of the trumpet judgements that will have such a devastating effect upon this earth.
-
Ephesians 1 pt 1
Whether we are called to serve as apostles planting churches, or baking cakes for our next-door neighbour, I am praying this morning that the will of God, the ‘thelema’, will become so strong in all of us, that we will step out in confidence and serve the Lord according to his will.

Surviving Revelation pt 6
Revelation is deeply intertwined with the rest of scripture, and to separate it out as a completely separate book from the rest is to lose the plot. One can argue that the whole of scripture can be found in Revelation so that it becomes the perfect capstone of scripture.
-
Surviving Revelation pt 5
Recently I taught an overview of the whole of the Book of Revelation to a class, from the beginning to the end. I had to cut one or two corners! It took me a whole hour and I was shattered at the end of it but it served its purpose of giving the students a geographical understanding of the whole of Revelation.

Sunday Review 18
I was remembering that a while back I bought a brand-new leather-bound gold-edged bible. I had visions of becoming a bible-teacher I guess. I was very chuffed with it. And then I managed to spill a cup of coffee over it. The pristine pages now have dried coffee stains in one corner.
-
Surviving Revelation pt 4
My mind was turning to scrambled eggs after five minutes of listening to these two scholars and I was glad to get back to the straight-forward simplicity of my beloved Revelation!
-
Surviving Revelation pt 3
Much is to be gained by approaching Revelation in a simple, down-to-earth and literal fashion. There are symbols to be found, and these are very obvious, but for the most part a straight-forward approach works best.
-
Surviving Revelation pt 2
The Revelation of Jesus is too much to bear for some people who hastily retreat to more comforting verses in the gospels. Sadly though, they miss out on the true nature of Christ and the glory of the Kingdom that is to come. Indeed, one could argue that many will actually reject Jesus because he does not comply with their ‘cuddly teddy bear’ perception of Jesus.
-
Revelation 7 pt 14
But yet we have a faithful Lord, walking with us, ready to rescue us before He pours out His wrath on this earth,, ready to restore us and wipe away our tears, ready to welcome us into eternal glory! All will be well! All will be well!
-
Revelation 7 pt 13
God will watch and observe how individuals, churches, and the nations of this world will react to the plight of the Jewish nation during the tribulation. Many will distance themselves from Israel for fear of being identified with them. And many will take them in and protect them, even though they endanger themselves.
-
Revelation 7 pt 12
The tribulation will undoubtedly bring great food shortages, as the end-time beast imposes his strangle-hold upon the Middle East. Life in exile or under siege will be hard indeed. But yet the tribulation will serve its purpose and when it is brought to its end the Lord will be there to gather his children and bring them to safety.
-
Revelation 7 pt 11
The road ahead holds difficult days indeed. We will be shaken to the very core by the immensity of the times. But yet God the blessed Father will greet us and embrace and cherish us with His divine presence.
-
Revelation 7 pt 10
Revelation does not shy away from the subject of martyrdom. The rise of the end-time beast and his empire will certainly have a profound effect upon the Middle East and elsewhere.
-
Revelation 7 pt 9
The great multitude, dressed in their white robes of salvation, stand before God who is seated upon the throne and for ever and a day we will give thanks for this salvation that we did not deserve but that has been achieved by the Lamb upon the cross.
-
Revelation 7 pt 8
And the palm branches also take us forward to the Second Exodus where Lord Jesus will lead a glorious procession into Jerusalem, through the Mercy Gates,
-
Revelation 7 pt 7.
Abram’s vision of the stars in Genesis 15:5 is gloriously fulfilled by John’s vision of this great multitude before the throne of God in Revelation 7:9.

And they are just the first-fruits!
-
Revelation 7 part 6
But for me, the main message here is that God has chosen a number of Israelites, 144,000,that they are the first-fruits of many others, that they are sealed by salvation into Christ Jesus and they will be protected by their faithful Father.
-
Revelation pt 5
The 144,000 are the first-fruits: they go ahead of the multitude of Israelites who will wonderfully receive Christ Jesus as their Messiah when he returns in power and glory.
-
Revelation 7 pt 4
God is about to release the trumpet judgements upon the earth and the purpose of the seal on the forehead of the 144,000 is to protect them through this ordeal.
-
Revelation 7: pt 3
One of the most valuable lessons to understand when reading Revelation is to approach it simply, without being too clever. If it says that the 144,000 are from all the tribes of Israel then that is exactly who they are!
-
Revelation 7 pt 2
The four winds describe the trumpet judgements of chapters eight and nine of Revelation. But yet four angels are posted to keep these winds blowing until God decrees that the right time has arrived. These judgements will bring immense chaos and disorder to this world yet God is in sovereign control.
-
Revelation 7 pt 1
It is a joy to reach the reassuring shores of Revelation chapter seven, having crawled through the trials of the previous chapter.
-
Sunday Review 15
As ever, so glad for all the support that folk give me regarding this site. I would no doubt keep writing, even on my own, but it is so much better with a few friends cheering me on!
-
The Sixth Seal pt 8
I would suggest that since Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 are running parallel and describe remarkably similar sequences, we can therefore assert that Christ will gather the elect, immediately before the wrath of God is poured out upon this earth.
-
The Sixth Seal pt 7
So the end-time sequence of Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 are the same: the tribulation, then the disturbances then the return of Christ. Once again we see that Revelation 6 runs remarkably parallel with the Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24.
-
The Sixth Seal pt 6
Many have argued, quite rightly, that Revelation chapter six runs remarkably parallel with the Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24. Therefore, the cosmological disturbances of Matthew 24:29-30 are one and the same with the cosmological disturbances of Revelation 6:12-15. Both mark the exact same point in time.
