Jerusalem will be the centre of the world and the nations will tithe their wealth to Jesus. Previously, the kings of the earth have rebelled against Christ Jesus and Jerusalem but now they pay homage.
-
Revelation 21:9 ‘From a mountain…’
This describes the city as having twelve visible foundations, and this suggests it is a stepped pyramid construction. The city would have twelve levels, decreasing in size, each one built on its own foundation, ascending to form a pyramid with the top level being the apex of the city.
-

The goods of this world will crumble in our hands, swept away by the latest flood or fire, but the riches of God’s kingdom will stand forever.
-
Revelation 21:4 Changes coming…
Life holds its fair share of tragedies and these words are a soothing balm to those who have held on and endured. The world will not remain the same and the cruelties of life are not our destiny. The curse that has cast such a deep shadow upon this world, caused by the sin of man, will pass away and the blessing of redemption will shine its goodness upon the righteous in Christ Jesus for all eternity.
-
Revelation 21:3 The New Jerusalem
We discussed yesterday that God is bringing us all together, like the proud father that He is. Many of us will be centred at the New Jerusalem and many will live away but yet return on frequent pilgrimages to our new home city. For many of us, our present time is one of suffering and tribulation but this time will pass away and we will enter into an eternity of blessing. And it will have been so worth remaining faithful!

-
Revelation 21:1 New heavens, new earth…
A fair amount of debate goes into this verse. Clearly the present heaven and earth will undergo some form of major transformation. Some suggest that God starts from scratch and creates a completely new heaven and earth, and others suggest that God completely purges and transforms the existing ones.

The light will conquer the darkness. And the whole earth will give a jubilant sigh of collective relief!
-
Revelation 19:17 Armageddon
This is not for the faint-hearted. Some will attempt to dilute this down to nothing by suggesting that Armageddon is a metaphor of the inner struggle between light and darkness that takes place in the hearts of men. The Battle of Armageddon is as real as the First and Second World War, as real as the Battle for Ukraine and all the other countless wars that go unreported around the world. The horror of the description of Armageddon matches the horror of the Cross which matches the horror of the sin of fallen man.
-
Revelation 19:16 King of kings and Lord of lords
In the end-times, the antichrist will bring together ten nations that will assemble to invade Jerusalem. They will be ultimately defeated by Christ Jesus and his armies in the series of conflicts that comprise the Battle of Armageddon. The rebellious nations that have given their allegiance to the antichrist and dared to march against Jerusalem will pay the ultimate price. They will be decisively crushed. There will only ever be one king. His name is Jesus!
-
Revelaton 19:13 A robe dipped in blood…
This is a curious verse. We can certainly say with confidence that we will never ever come to the point of finally understanding everything there is to know of the depths of Jesus. We will spend the rest of eternity learning from and about him, going ever deeper into communion with him.

-
Revelation 18:11 The merchants will weep…
The selfish greed of the kings of the earth is revealed here. They have been like pigs with their noses in the troughs but now their unrighteous feast has come to an abrupt end. Babylon gave them the luxury and the power that they craved for but now it is all over. They are terrified at her torment for they fear they will suffer the same fate.
