Revelation 19:16 King of kings and Lord of lords

Continuing my study of Revelation 19.

Revelation 19:14  ‘The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth came a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron sceptre.’

In the end-times, the antichrist will bring together, by coercion and by guile, ten nations that will assemble to invade Jerusalem.

Zechariah 12:3  ‘On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all nations.’

Luke 21:20  ‘When you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, you will know that desolation is near.’

They will be ultimately defeated by Christ Jesus and his armies in the series of conflicts that comprise the Battle of Armageddon.

Jesus will strike down these nations.

Zechariah 12:4  ‘On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness.’

Ezekiel 38:21  ‘I will summon a sword against Gog on all my mountains, declares the Sovereign Lord. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. I will execute judgement upon him with plague and bloodshed. I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulphur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him.

There will only ever be one victor.

Ezekiel 38:23  ‘And so I will show my greatness and my holiness and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am Lord.’

The battles will be one-sided and conclusive.

Revelation 19:15a  ‘He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.

The rebellious nations that have given their allegiance to the antichrist and dared to march against Jerusalem will pay the ultimate price. They will be decisively crushed.

There will only ever be one king.

Revelation 19:16  ‘On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: King of Kings and Lord of lords.

Amen!
