Revelation 14:20 Trampled winepress

Continuing our study of Revelation 14.

Revelation 14:20  They were trampled in the winepress outside the city and blood flowed out of the press, rising as high as the horses’ bridles for a distance of 1,600 stadia.’

In the past few posts we have explored the corn harvest which I suggested will be the harvest of the redeemed and then the grape harvest which is clearly the wrath of God being poured out upon the wicked.

This post is not for the faint of heart.

The distance of 1,600 stadia is roughly 200 miles and about the length of Israel. This clearly speaks of the infamous Battle of Armageddon.

Revelation 16:14  ‘They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.

This battle is well documented in scripture. The end-time antichrist will gather the nations into an enormous military confederacy that will move against Israel.

Ezekiel 38:7  ‘Get ready; be prepared, you and all the hordes gathered about you and take command of them. After many days you will be called to arms.’

God will inspire the antichrist to march against Jerusalem but it will be a foolish move.

Ezekiel 38:16  ‘You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud that covers the land.’

They go to fight against the Lord which is not wise.

Ezekiel 38:16a  ‘In days to come, O Gog, I will bring you against my land, so that the nations may know me when I show myself holy through you before their eyes.’

The holiness of God will be revealed through the defeat and destruction of the antichrist on that day.

Daniel 11:45  ‘He will pitch his royal tents between the seas at the beautiful holy mountain. Yet he will come to his end and no-one will help him.’

The antichrist will have waged a war of hate, following the ambitions of his evil master but yet he will die helpless and alone.

  • Revelation 16:1 Painful Sores
And so we enter into a grim and melancholy chapter. There is little cheer to be found here. Those who have taken the mark of the beast, hoping to find some form of reward or relief, and having surrendered their soul to the worship of the beast in some shape or form, now find themselves reaping a bitter harvest of ugly and painful sores.

The seven angels are dressed in robes of perfect holiness and they carry the seven plagues that will purge and cleanse this corrupted world. The temple is filled with the glory of God as He brings perfect holiness and righteousness to bear down on this earth.
  • Revelation 15:3 A Deeper Understanding
Please click image to reaf full post and scroll down. If you struggle with the horror of Revelation then you are certainly not alone. The absolute horror reflects the weight of sin that has corrupted man to the core.  But as we embrace these sacred truths, they will bring us deeper, far deeper than ever before, into an understanding of the heart, into an understanding of the perfect holiness of God.
  • Revelation 15:3 Moses and Jesus
Please tap image to see full post The mention of both Moses and Jesus the Lamb in the same sentence strengthens the idea that Jesus will be the perfect Moses, who will deliver Israel, imprisoned or exiled by the antichrist and lead them victoriously back to Jerusalem.
  • Revelation 15:1 Glass and Fire
The bitterness of martyrdom gives way to eternal celebration. Their victory has always been dependent upon the strength that God provides and this is reflected in the harps given to them by God.  And what a glorious celebration. The enemy has been defeated and the bowls of wrath will bring this evil age to a conclusion. The joy of eternity awaits!
