Revelation 14a Helmets on our heads!

Revelation 14a Helmets on our heads!

Revelation 14a  ‘He ordered them to set up an image in honour of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.’

This is a well debated verse that can be discussed in at least a couple of ways.

We live in a world that brims with the latest computers and artificial intelligence and the like. To an old-fashioned country boy like myself, it seems that the realm of science fiction has arrived and parked itself on the drive and has no intention of leaving anytime soon.

And so understandably, folk have approached this verse from a modern-day approach. They envisage the false prophet will set up some sort of holistic image of the antichrist that will be transmitted across the world for everyone to worship and bow before.

I am told that on the horizon there is a computer-generated alternative universe that will be accessible by means of helmets that folk attach to their heads. The image of the antichrist will thereby be sent  to these helmets.

In reading this, you have probably come to the conclusion that I know very little about modern technology and you would be not far wrong!

On the other hand, this could be as simple as an idol constructed in a public place. The authorities could then demand that the populace renounce Christ Jesus and worship the antichrist idol on pain of death or imprisonment.

The expression ‘the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived’ is repeated here for the third time and is thus meant to be noticed and taken note of.

In all these discussions, we can never be fully sure how it will all play out. All we can do is study the details and learn to observe their unfolding in our times, rather than rashly jumping to conclusions.

May we stay alert on the watchtower, not jumping at shadows, but wisely studying the scriptures, refreshed by the spirit, and ready to warn a sleeping world of the approaching dangers.

  • Revelation 16:1 Painful Sores
And so we enter into a grim and melancholy chapter. There is little cheer to be found here. Those who have taken the mark of the beast, hoping to find some form of reward or relief, and having surrendered their soul to the worship of the beast in some shape or form, now find themselves reaping a bitter harvest of ugly and painful sores.

The seven angels are dressed in robes of perfect holiness and they carry the seven plagues that will purge and cleanse this corrupted world. The temple is filled with the glory of God as He brings perfect holiness and righteousness to bear down on this earth.

The absolute horror reflects the weight of sin that has corrupted man to the core.  But as we embrace these sacred truths, they will bring us deeper, far deeper than ever before, into an understanding of the heart, into an understanding of the perfect holiness of God.
  • Revelation 15:3 Moses and Jesus
Please tap image to see full post The mention of both Moses and Jesus the Lamb in the same sentence strengthens the idea that Jesus will be the perfect Moses, who will deliver Israel, imprisoned or exiled by the antichrist and lead them victoriously back to Jerusalem.
  • Revelation 15:1 Glass and Fire
The bitterness of martyrdom gives way to eternal celebration. Their victory has always been dependent upon the strength that God provides and this is reflected in the harps given to them by God.  And what a glorious celebration. The enemy has been defeated and the bowls of wrath will bring this evil age to a conclusion. The joy of eternity awaits!
