Revelation 13:3 Fatal wound healed

Revelation 13:3 Fatal wound healed

Continuing our study of Revelation 13.

Revelation 13:3  ‘One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the wound had been healed.’

This is an intriguing verse that can be understood in two ways.

Death has always been the dividing line that has defeated the strongest of warriors. The brightest of minds have not yet worked out how to evade the grim reaper.

Every dictator has sought an eternal reign but each one has been brought to their knees by human mortality.

The end-time antichrist himself could experience some form of fatal wound but yet, seemingly miraculously, be brought back to life. This would put him in a league of his own and seriously impress his followers.

Alternatively, this could be talking of an empire that has collapsed during the course of history but yet has been restored once more.

Some have suggested that the Roman Empire collapsed but will be revived in some form as an end-time European Union. Many hold to this almost traditional viewpoint but it has been seriously challenged in recent days.

The restoration of the Ottoman Empire, in the form of an end-time Islamic Caliphate, is a very possible contender that is suggested by many and with good reason. The rise to power of Isis in recent days might be a prelude to things to come.

Whether it is the antichrist as an individual or his empire that is brought back to life, certainly this will have a profoundly encouraging effect upon his followers.

Revelation 13:3a  ‘The whole world was astonished and followed the beast.’

Whether it is the ressurection of a beast or an empire, the world will be amazed.

Revelation 13:4a  ‘Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against him?”

They will feel invincible but sadly they will be proven tragically wrong.

And so we enter into a grim and melancholy chapter. There is little cheer to be found here. Those who have taken the mark of the beast, hoping to find some form of reward or relief, and having surrendered their soul to the worship of the beast in some shape or form, now find themselves reaping a bitter harvest of ugly and painful sores.

The absolute horror reflects the weight of sin that has corrupted man to the core.  But as we embrace these sacred truths, they will bring us deeper, far deeper than ever before, into an understanding of the heart, into an understanding of the perfect holiness of God.
  • Revelation 15:3 Moses and Jesus
Please tap image to see full post The mention of both Moses and Jesus the Lamb in the same sentence strengthens the idea that Jesus will be the perfect Moses, who will deliver Israel, imprisoned or exiled by the antichrist and lead them victoriously back to Jerusalem.
  • Revelation 15:1 Glass and Fire
The bitterness of martyrdom gives way to eternal celebration. Their victory has always been dependent upon the strength that God provides and this is reflected in the harps given to them by God.  And what a glorious celebration. The enemy has been defeated and the bowls of wrath will bring this evil age to a conclusion. The joy of eternity awaits!
