The Sixth Seal pt 8

Hi, continuing my study of Revelation chapter six. You might want to read my last two posts that are linked down below to follow the argument through.

Revelation 6:17  ‘For the great day of their wrath has come and who can stand?

We saw in the first post  that Matthew 24:29 and Revelation 6:12 describe the same event.

Matthew 24:29  ‘Immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.

Revelation 6:12  ‘I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black…’

In fact, Revelation 6 runs remarkably parallel with the Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24.

We saw yesterday that Revelation 6 and Matthew 24 describe the same end-time sequence, that is: the tribulation, followed by the cosmological disturbances and then the return of Christ Jesus.

Matthew 24:21, Matthew 24:29 and Matthew 24:30 all show this sequence.

Revelation 6:9;  Revelation 6:12 and Revelation 6:16a show the same sequence.

Matthew 24 focuses on the returning Christ sending his angels to gather the elect.

Matthew 24:31  ‘And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call and they will gather his elect

Revelation 6 focuses on the coming wrath of God.

Revelation 6:16a  ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.

I would suggest that since Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 are running parallel and describe remarkably similar sequences, we can therefore assert that Christ will gather the elect, immediately before the wrath of God is poured out upon this earth.

There is therefore a strong argument to be made for the case that:

1    We endure the tribulation of Matthew 24:21 and Revelation 6:9.

2   We witness the cosmological disturbances of Matthew 24:29 and Revelation 6:12.

3   Christ Jesus returns and gathers his elect;  Matthew 24:31.

4  The unrepentant peoples of the earth then suffer the brief period of God’s wrath described in the Trumpets of Revelation 8&9 and the Bowls of Wrath in Revelation 16. Revelation 6:17.

5 Jesus returns to fight the battles of Armageddon and defeat the enemy, and then establish his kingdom here on earth.

I hope this all makes sense. To be honest, I have just had my booster jab and my head is full of cotton wool at the moment.

Some of the very best teachers (who teach on this much better than I can) on this subject are from Zion’s Hope who may be found here:

These teachers have been a constant help to me over the years and I would thoroughly recommend their teachings!

We head to chapter 7 next!

My previous posts:

  • Revelation 11 pt 4
The different expressions for the same period of time would also show that they are actual measurements of time that are not to be spiritualised into something of our own making. This period of time will actually happen. It will be the final three-and-a-half years before Christ Jesus returns in power and glory!
  • Revelation 11 pt 3
The building of the Third Temple and the beginning of the daily sacrifice will bring such joy to many of the people of Israel. The treachery of the end-time beast and his desecration of the temple will be the final straw that will weaken the pride of Israel and prepare them in brokenness to receive Christ Jesus as their Messiah when he returns in power and glory.
  • Revelation 11 pt 2
A Third Temple must be built and the sacrifices and grain offerings to commence, so that the end-time beast can arise, bring a halt to the daily sacrifice and desecrate the temple in order to fulfil prophecies of both Jesus and Daniel.
  • Revelation 11 pt 1
There has always been a great expectation that a Third Temple will be built although there are clear challenges to hurdle, not least the opposition of other world religions that hold political control over the Temple Mount. Political wrestling goes on regarding the future development of the Temple and the will and expectation grows more acutely with every passing year.
  • A Prayer For Afghanistan
May a spirit of praise and worship be lifted up amongst the hearts of Christians in Afghanistan, even though the praise may need to be covert and sung under their breath, may it be joyous and contagious.
