Carrying on with our study of Revelation chapter six and looking at the fifth seal.
Revelation 6: 11 ‘Then each of them was given a white robe and they were told to wait a little longer, until the number of their fellow-servants and brothers who were to be killed as they had been was completed.’
We looked yesterday at the patience we need to cope with the immense injustices of this world, knowing that our blessed hope is the return of Christ Jesus and the establishment of his righteous kingdom.
Revelation 11:15 ‘The seventh angel sounded his trumpet and there were loud voices in heaven which said: “The kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and his Christ.”
The tyrant political leaders of this world, and their master, have no future.
Our initial verse tells us that there will be a wave of intense persecution focused on the Middle East, leading to martyrdom for countless Christians.
Martyrdom is not a subject we like to talk about too much. And we certainly do not glamorise or trivialise it. But it is a daily reality for many Christians around the world.
This will need an immense level of trust between ourselves and our King. This will call us to step forward as lambs, enfolded by the love of Christ, surrendering ourselves to God’s eternal glory.
And the world will be shaken by our devotion, shaken by our conviction, shaken by our courage.
The end-time persecution and martyrdom of the church will yield the greatest harvest of souls ever known.
And the enemy will have been defeated.
Revelation 12:11 ‘They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony, they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.’
Many thanks for reading this.
Tomorrow we explore the end-time cosmological disturbances.
