This is a series of posts on Revelation 6, featuring the infamous four horsemen of the apocalypse.
This morning we are exploring the fourth pale horse. I am sorry, but these are rather dark verses…
Revelation 6:8 ‘I looked and there was a pale horse. It’s rider was named Death and Hades was following close behind. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague and by the wild beasts of the earth.’
This dark chapter describes the horrific sequence of the rise of the dark antichrist, followed by warfare; famine caused by the destruction of crops and supplies; plagues upon the weak, and wild animals scavenging dead flesh.
Death will cut people down and Hades will gather their souls.
The grim measure of these verses holds a toxic stench. Here lies the harvest of unrighteousness, the fruit of the sinful nature of fallen man.
But yet through these dreadful times, our loving Saviour will hold us close to His breast and beckon us forward. These short days will pass and the joyous assembly of chapter seven awaits us. Just a few steps more to go. I promise!
Praying this morning, for all who suffer for their faith, may they persevere and endure till the end. Our Lord is coming!
