Jesus prophesied that nation would fight against each other.
Matthew 24:7 ‘Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom.’
Warfare has certainly plagued human society since the beginning of time. And the verse above was partially fulfilled in AD70, when Rome invaded Jerusalem.
However, Daniel 11:21-45 depicts a future series of end-time battles as the King of the North, the dark antichrist, gathers a coalition of nations ultimately to conquer Jerusalem.
Daniel 11:40 ‘At the time of the end, the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. He will also invade the Beautiful Land.‘
This aligns with Zechariah.
Zechariah 14:2 ‘I will gather all nations to Jerusalem to fight against it, the city will be captured…’
Jesus reminds us not to be alarmed, for such things must happen. God is always completely in control.
Matthew 24:6 ‘You will hear of wars and rumours of wars but see to it that you are not alarmed.’
The Bride will shine like a bright star in these darkest of days. We will be called to be a reassuring comfort to those around. The world will lurch into catastrophe as world-wide warfare breaks out, but we should not be cowered by newspaper reports.
Rather our eyes must be focussed on Jesus every step of the way. These will be traumatic days indeed but we have the following promise:
Luke 21:28 ‘When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads because your redemption is drawing near.’
Praying this morning for all those living in lands plagued by endless wars.
Our victory is in Christ!
Tommorrow we look at the persecution that the beast brings. To get there now, please HERE
