Hi. continuing my series on Revelation 2&3 and looking at Jesus’ letter to the church in Laodicea.
Revelation 3:19 ‘Those I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.’
So there are different ways of understanding these rich verses but here I am taking a forward-looking approach and considering the rebuke and discipline of Jesus as representing, just for one moment, the end-time tribulation that is approaching.
In the end-times, many will fall away from the faith due to the pressures laid against the church. The suffering of the tribulation will be too much for them.
Matthew 24:10 ‘At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other.’
How essential it is that we are prepared in our hearts for these times and that we are deeply rooted in the love and presence of Christ Jesus.
One understanding then, of the subject verse above, is that Christ Jesus is calling to those who have turned away from the faith, calling them to repent earnestly and come back into fellowship with Christ and their fellow brothers and sisters.
We explore this repenting and turning back tomorrow.
Praying tonight for all those who have recently fallen away because of persecution, that they will find once more the peace that transcends understanding and follow Christ Jesus once more. The door of repentance is always open.
Tomorrow we look at this door of repentance. To get there now, please click HERE.
