This is a series of posts on the letters of Jesus to the seven churches in Revelation 2&3. This is my seventh post on the church of Philadelphia. To see all my previous posts on these two chapters, please look down at the end for a full list.
Revelation 3:12 ‘I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem…
This is such an immense encouragement. When Christ Jesus returns in power and glory, we will not only come into the very presence of God but we will also dwell in His Holy City, the New Jerusalem.
We might be living in grim circumstances today, homeless in a foreign land, but if we hold to our faith then we will walk in the garden of paradise for all eternity.
Revelation 2:7a ‘To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life which is in the paradise of God.’
A mighty earthquake will level a plateau so that the New Jerusalem, presently in the heavenly dimension, will come down to earth and become the very centre of our world.
Revelation 21:2 ‘I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.’
This Holy City will answer all our dreams and longings. To walk along the golden streets and drink from the stream of life will be an absolute delight.
And the ravages of persecution and hardships will be left far behind.
Psalm 48:8 ‘As we have heard so we have seen, in the city of the Lord Almighty, in the city of our God. God makes her secure forever.’
This is worth holding on for.
Hasten the day.
