This is a series of posts on the letters of Jesus to the seven churches in Revelation 2&3. This is my sixth post on the church of Philadelphia. To see all my previous posts on these two chapters, please look down at the end for a full list.
Please either listen to the audio clip above or read the notes below or both at the same time!
Revelation 3:12 ‘I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God and I will also write on him my new name.’
Here is a glorious promise. Life is often tough, especially for those undergoing difficulties and persecution. We need faith to keep looking up, every day, to our heavenly Father, knowing and experiencing His divine love.
When Christ Jesus returns in power and glory. and the persecutions and difficulties have mercifully faded way, we will enter into an even deeper relationship with God. We will literally be standing in His presence and he will wipe away every tear from our eyes.
Revelation 7:17 ‘For the Lamb at the centre of the throne will be their shepherd, he will lead them to springs of living water. and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.’
And the writing of the name of God means that we will belong to Him. We will be His servants.
Revelation 22:3 ‘No longer will there be any curse. the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city and His servants will serve Him. They will see His face and His name will be on their foreheads.’
We may see so dimly at the moment and it needs great faith to keep going sometimes but the time is coming soon when we will gather in the courtyards of the great city of our heavenly Father, knowing that we belong to Him alone, and as He wipes away our tears we will gaze into His face and know that we have made it home.
Hasten the day…
