Day 5 The Closeness of God
This is day five of a seven day series. To go back to the beginning, to day one, then please click here.
Please either listen to the three minute audio above or read my notes below or both at the same time.
Yesterday we explored the martyrdom that many saints will experience in the end-times but yet today we see how God will draw very close to those who are left to minister the truth on this earth.
Consider the following:
Revelation 12:10b ‘For the accuser of our brothers who accuses them before our God day and night has been hurled down.
Please do not underestimate the importance of this verse. Satan has occupied the kingdom of the air, as described in Ephesians 2:1b. He has exerted an evil pressure or influence upon the world, and upon the Church itself. This is why moving in the gifts of the Holy Spirit sometimes feels like walking through mud!
Satan will be cast down to the earth and will unleash a mighty wave of earthly persecution through the end-time anti-Christ beast.
However, the evil influence from his kingdom in the air will be broken. The Church will be released into a new-found freedom of expression, not seen since the Acts of the Apostles.
In these present days we see exciting signs of the miraculous Church arising and this is just a taste of the outpouring of God’s awesome power that we will witness and experience in the very last days.
Consider the martyrdom of Stephen;
We have seen the ‘thinning of the gap’ described in the stoning of Stephen.
Acts 7:59 ‘Whilst they were stoning him. Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit”. Then he fell on his knees and cried out “Lord, do not hold this sin against them”. When he had said this, he fell asleep.’
The distance between heaven and earth was very slim for Stephen at this point in time. The Lord drew very close to him in his hour of tribulation.
Luke 21:28 also reminds us of the joy of seeing the approach of the tribulation.
Luke 21:28 ‘When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads because your redemption is drawing near.’
The time of tribulation will be a time of immense rejoicing for we will know that our beloved Lord is returning!
The return of Christ Jesus can sometimes seem to be such an abstract concept but the time will arrive when we will know without doubt that the hour of his glorious return is upon us!
This is where a healthy understanding of the return of Christ Jesus is paramount. When we really know and understand the millennial reign of Christ Jesus from Jerusalem, from the Holy City with the golden streets and the river of life flowing through, when this understanding is planted deeply within us, then we will gladly face the tribulation, knowing that the overwhelming joys of the millennium are just around the corner!
Tomorrow we explore the end-time harvest!
